Step into the spotlight with a standout LinkedIn Company Page that brings your nonprofit's mission to the forefront, attracting the right allies to fuel your journey.
For small to medium-sized nonprofit organisations, establishing a strong online presence is crucial for success.
A LinkedIn Company Page not only serves as a digital showcase for your organisation’s mission, achievements, and needs but also as a platform for attracting potential donors, volunteers, and partners. Here’s a quick guide on how to create an impactful LinkedIn Company Page for your nonprofit.
Step 1: Getting started
Start by signing in to LinkedIn: log into your personal account, since you’ll need a personal profile set up before you can create a company page. From your LinkedIn homepage, navigate to the ‘For Business’ menu by locating the icon at the top right corner and clicking on it. Then select ‘Create a Company Page+’: scroll to the bottom of the menu that appears, choose that option, and select the category that best describes your organisation, such as “Company” or “Educational institution”.
Step 2: Enter your organisation's details
Enter the official name of your nonprofit organisation. LinkedIn will automatically suggest a URL for your page, which you can adjust as long as it remains unique. Provide your organisation’s website and select the most relevant industry from the dropdown menu, then fill in the company details: your organisation’s industry, its size by number of employees, and the organisation type.
Add basic branding details too, a high resolution logo file and your organisation’s tagline (or a short description of the organisation, up to 120 characters long, if you don’t have a tagline). Once you’re satisfied all of your details are correct and you’ve checked the box confirming you’re an authorised representative, click ‘Create page’ at the bottom. Your LinkedIn Company Page is now live.
Step 3: Fill in additional details
Fill in a brief description of your organisation, highlighting its mission, the impact you make, and the communities you serve, keeping it concise and compelling. Add your organisation’s location to make it easier for local volunteers, donors, and partners to find you.
Upload a high-resolution cover image that captures the essence of your organisation’s mission, professional and aligned with your nonprofit’s branding. Finally, customise your button: LinkedIn lets you add a custom call to action, such as “Visit website” or “Learn more”, so choose the action you want to encourage and link it to the appropriate page on your website.
Step 4: Engage and grow your audience
Post regular updates: share news, updates, stories, and insights related to your organisation’s work, since engaging content attracts followers and encourages interaction. Use the ‘Invite Connections’ feature to invite your personal LinkedIn connections to follow your nonprofit’s page.
Engage with your followers by responding to comments and messages, participating in relevant conversations, and engaging with their content to build a community around your page. And keep an eye on your page analytics to understand what content resonates with your audience, using those insights to refine your strategy and content plan.
Creating a LinkedIn Company Page for your nonprofit is a strategic step towards enhancing your digital footprint and networking potential. By following these steps, you can create a dynamic page that effectively communicates your mission, engages your audience, and fosters meaningful connections within the professional community.
